So with this mech basically being confirmed, how competitive do you think it will be? It just seems to be strictly worse than the blackjack

It's a medium that isn't a Shadow Hawk. That is all that needs to be said, unfortunately.

Theis comes from a purely competive point of view. Should be more than viable in pugs

The twitter feed I saw, just said that a 45 ton mech is in the pipeline. Not that it will be the next mech. ;)

Vindicator and Wyvern seem to be the only possible choices right now, conisdering number of variants, technology used in those variants and release date of the mech.

This is a great point. Even if the meta changes, any way you slice it hawks seem to be king of the mediums

Are the Vindicator and the Blackjack the only available Inner Sphere 45 tonners in this time period?

EDIT: Forgot the Wyvern.

I 'spose that depends on how strict our definition of "viable" is. Assuming the Vindi uses the same old max engine formula, it will max out at approximately 93 kph...which isn't a particularly good speed for something without the armor to handle it. Although, the 1AA variant would probably be decent enough (about 116.8 kph after speed tweak).

In all likelihood, though, it will probably be relegated to the underhive due to having such a poor combination of speed, weapons, and armor. The 55 ton mediums and perhaps even some 50 tonners will still heavily outshine the Vindicator unless some serious magic voodoo happens.

So what? Cicada can do alot that the Shawk cant, one mech does not rule the mediums. There are more roles to be played, some that the Shawk cant do.

The Cicada is more of a giant light than a medium. ;) And in that case, the Jenner is almost always better (the exception is that Jenners can't carry ECM).

And actually, one mech does rule the mediums. The Shadow Hawk is in fact better than all of the others because it excels at the roles that matter. Just like how the Jenner and now Firestarter rule the lights, how the Cataphract and Jager rule heavies, etc...

I would like a BJ-2, but energy+missiles in a 45-ton medium is great.. unless you hate the Griffin or Kintaro (the former being surprisingly good).

It's great until you consider that my Griffin will be running slightly faster than your 45 tonner, while also carrying more armor, more firepower, and probably while also having far greater torso twisting agility. ;)

I want to be the very best
That no Mechwarrior ever was
To grind them is my real test
To master them is my cause

I will travel across the maps
Pugging far and wide
Teach Pokemech to understand
The C-Bills that's inside

Pokemech (gotta grind 'em all), it's you and me
I know it's my destiny
(Pokemech!)
ooh you're my best mech
In a base we must defend

Pokemech (gotta grind 'em all), a hitbox so true
Our consumables will pull us through
You TS me and I'll TS you
Po-ke-mech
(Gotta grind 'em all!)
Gotta grind 'em all
Pokemech!

Maybe they are putting melee combat in and you guys will get your Hatchetman ! But I think it will be the Vindicator too.

My HBK-4SP eats s'hawks. I particularly enjoy the peripheral blindspots s'hawks have. If they don't have a great pilot who is swiveling constantly to see what's going on around him... they are ridiculously susceptible to blindside attacks.

That said... all s'hawk variants destroy my other HBK variants too easily. ;) le sigh

More mediums are always welcome. Greatest weight class for diversity and fun and skill by far.

Yes, THANKS PAUL!

Raise the BJ (and future Vindicator engine cap) to 255 please. The BJ-1X (and whatever fast Vindicator variant) needs a small engine cap bump to 300 while we're at it.

Now, I just need to edumacate myself with all the Vindicator variants...
